Leonie Marinovich started out in stills photography after leaving behind a career in IT. She returned to South Africa and picked up a camera as an excuse to meet people. Once she had established herself in the documentary world, she adapted her subtle yet incisive photographic eye to shooting and producing documentary films.

She has shot and produced films and multimedia projects for corporate giants and international organizations across Africa, mostly with a focus on humanitarian issues.

She is passionate about transferring her technical know-how and storytelling skills to communities and people with an interest in making their voices heard. She consults on storytelling projects in under-represented communities in stills and video production.

She’s currently a permanent resident in the USA where she lives with a husband, two children and a dog, while pursuing personal and professional projects and trying to figure out when she’ll get to spend time with people again.
